Aquaporins (AQPs) are a large family of integral membrane water transport channel proteins that facilitate the transport of water through the cell membrane. AQPs are widely distributed and it is not uncommon for more than one type of AQP to be present in the same cell. AQPs are involved in renal water absorption, generation of pulmonary secretions, lacrimation and the secretion and reabsorption of cerebrospinal fluid and aqueous humor. In skeletal muscle, AQP4 (also known as mercurial insensitive water channel), localizes to the sarcolemma of fasttwitch muscle fibers. The water-specific channel Aquaporin 4 is located in various tissues including the gastro intestinal tract, kidney and brain. It is an osmoreceptor which regulates body water balance and mediates water flow within the central nervous system.
水通道蛋白(AQPs)廣泛分布于機體不同組織器官中,腦組織中的水通道蛋白主要為AQP4。AQP-4蛋白主要在星型膠質細胞和室管膜細胞內表達,尤其在于毛細血管和軟腦膜直接接觸的膠質細胞上及血管周表達豐富。
水通道蛋白4的分布特點與其功能密切相關,可能是腦脊液重吸收、滲透壓調節、腦水腫形成等生理、病理過程的分子生物學基礎。研究水通道蛋白4可為腦水腫及水代謝疾病提供分子水平的理論依據,同時為臨床治療腦水腫及水代謝疾病提供一種新途徑。
