Background: Vgl4, vestigial-like protein 4 is a member of the vestigial family of proteins. It interacts with mammalian Transcriptional Enhancer Factors (TEFs) and may be a specific coactivator. Vgl4 also counteracts alpha1-adrenergic activation of gene expression in cardiac myocytes. There are 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
